Know Your Pincode- Postal Index Number –Pin code in India.

Know Your Pincode- Postal Index Number –Pin code in India.

An address attaches a PIN code.  In India it is Postal Index Number. It is a 6 digit number which came into effect from August 15, 1972.  The first 3 digits indicate the state and sorting district of the Postal Department.  This is like our STD for the telephone.  The next 3 digits make the PIN code.  The PIN code of Kochi Town delivery is 682 , 682 016 is the PIN code of the city MG Road.  That is the last 3 number indicate the particular post office.

In any address, the PIN code is mandatory.  Individuals or institutions  must write down the PIN code in their letters, E money orders and their visiting cards.  When you set the signature in your Email don’t forget to include your PIN code in it.   If the Pincode is   written in the letters Postal authorities can identify the place easily and can send it to the concerned place very easily and quickly so delay and mis delivery can be avoided.  So use PIN Code in all letters and addresses.
